Effective treatment coordination

Posted on 8th March 2020

There are so many skilled dental teams who are finding treatment uptake difficult within their dental practices. One of the main causes of this is ineffective communication.

We have found that effective communication between the dental team and the patients can make a huge difference to your treatment uptake.

In most cases, patients are considering a large treatment plan that will be a significant decision for them in their life. They need to feel confident in your dental team and your ability. They also need to know that the treatment will provide them with the results that they desire. How can we provide our patients with the confidence that their dental problems will be solved by us and provide them with a full consent process at the same time?

Treatment coordination is one of the many terms used to describe the effective communication between the dental team and the patient. The dentist will only be able to provide certain information within the surgery however, with the aid of treatment coordinators in the practice, the patient can receive a lot more additional information to help them make a fully informed decision with regards to their dental treatment options.

By using the dental team, from reception staff to dentist/ nurse and to treatment coordinators, we can provide our patients with a comprehensive service that involves learning about their unique needs and providing them with a full range of thoroughly described treatment options. This is often called the ‘patient journey’ however, we feel it is a compulsory requirement for all patients to be provided with this level of care in order for them to feel comprehensively informed to make the decision that is right for them.

On our 1 day course on Treatment Coordination, we will show delegates how every member of the dental team can be used to provide this exceptional service to all of your patients. It is something that I am very passionate about and we feel that all delegates will benefit from this, Dentist, Nurses, Receptionists, Managers and designated treatment coordinators will all benefit from this.
